Bringing the pieces together
Planning a den meeting often means moving between requirement lists, websites, PDFs, books, saved notes, and old agendas. An activity can sound promising but still leave the most useful questions unanswered: How long will it take? What needs to be prepared? Will it work indoors? How many Scouts can participate?
The Scouting Exchange grew out of doing that work repeatedly for real den meetings—and realizing that a plan or activity proven by one volunteer should be easier for another volunteer to find and adapt.
Why I Built It
Hi, I’m Melissa, a Cub Scout Den Leader and the creator of The Scouting Exchange. During my Wood Badge experience, I started thinking about all the great activities leaders must have created over the years—and how many of those ideas simply disappear once the meeting is over. I wanted to create a place where they could be preserved, shared, and discovered by the next leader. That idea became the foundation of my Wood Badge ticket. As it developed, I realized those shared activities could become even more useful when connected directly to meeting planning.
In many ways, The Scouting Exchange is the legacy notebook I wish had been handed down to me by the leaders who came before me.
What it brings together
Den Leaders can plan a year around Adventures, build individual meetings from official requirements, discover activities with practical planning details, create their own activities, and share useful ideas with the wider volunteer community.
Continuing to grow
The Scouting Exchange is actively being developed. Feedback from Cub Scout volunteers helps guide improvements and keep the product grounded in the way dens actually meet.
